Kwahu North DCE praises gov’t over job creation

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Kwahu North Assembly Hon. Windham Emil Afram has lauded President John Dramani Mahama led-administration for its commitment of creating jobs for the youth in the country.

The DCE also a former Eastern Regional boss of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) described the president as a strong man, determined, focused and committed to the development of the nation.

Hon. Afram continued that, notwithstanding, the economic challenges the country is undergoing, the commitment of the NDC government to provide social amenities and jobs to relief the plight of Ghanaians has remained resolute.

He made the observation on Tuesday when the Micro Finance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) presented 25 tricycles to some 25 selected youths in his district.

The presentation was one of many MASLOC social intervention policies initiated by the government to improve the lives of the vulnerable and urged them to use the opportunity to propel their lives.

The tricycles which would be used to transport foodstuffs from the farm areas to the market centres were given to the beneficiaries at the cost of GHS10,100.00 and to be repaid in a period of three years with a monthly payment of GHS300.00

He has therefore called beneficiaries not to see the gesture which is part of measures of creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youth in the area and the country as a whole as a political gift but rather take advantage of it to improve their economic fortunes.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony at Donkorkrom, the capital of the Kwahu North District, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MASLOC, Mrs. Sedinam Tamakloe Attionu said, her office instituted the scheme in an effort to empowering Ghanaians particularly the youth through skills acquisition and credits to fund businesses.

According to her, despite the handful challenges that have characterized the scheme in recent times, the primary objectives of the project would not be overlooked as government and other stakeholders find lasting solutions to the challenges.

Expressing her profound gratitude to the government, Mrs. Attionu continued that, the presentation of the tricycles was also to drum home the commitment of government to creating jobs for the teeming youth in the country.

According to her, many farmers in the various communities are finding it difficult to transport their farm produce to the market centre to sell or even transport to their destinations, hence the motivation on the part of MASLOC to present the tricycles to the youth.

To the beneficiaries, the CEO of MASLOC observed that even though it was the responsibility of the governments to create livelihoods for people in an attempt to reduce dependencies in society, the onus also depend on the youth to support themselves.

To this end, she charged the beneficiaries to work harder to repay the loans on time in order to pave the way for others to also benefit from the package.
