Kwaebibirem Assembly undertakes projects

Kade, Aug 12, GNA - The Kwaebibirem District Assembly with support from Government had initiated development projects to improve the standards of living of the people in the area.

The projects are being financed with the District Assembly Common Fund, Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and internally generated money.

Mr George Agyemang Duah, Kwaebibirem District Chief Executive, speaking at the assembly's meeting at Kade on Wednesday, said 14 projects had recently been awarded on contract in the area.

These include construction of teachers' staff quarters at Kade, three-unit classroom block for the Kade Seventh-Day Adventist Junior High School, 12-seater KVIP at Kade Zongo, Clinic at Otumi and community durbar ground at Akwatia.

Others were two-unit kindergarten block at Kwae, completion of market stalls at Akyem Wenchi, three-unit classroom block at Anweaso, re-roofing of school buildings at Kwamang and Topreman and six-unit classroom block at Koka L/A Primary School.

The rest were six-unit classroom blocks each for Kukubi L/A Primary School, Banso Roman Catholic Primary School, Afiafiso L/A Primary and community durbar grounds at Nkwantanang.

Mr Duah said that Government had approved six educational projects submitted to GETFund for consideration adding that procurement processes had been carried out the district tender board had awarded these projects on contract.

These were construction of six-unit classroom block each for Akwatia L/A Primary, Nkwantanang Islamic Primary School, Twumwusu L/a Primary School, Adankrono R/C Primary School and Atobriso L/A Primary School and a three-unit classroom block for Pramkuma L/A Primary.

Mr Duah said Government approved five more school projects to be constructed and mentioned the construction of six-unit classroom blocks each for Akwatia SDA Junior High school, Akwatia Islamic Primary, Adenkyenso L/A Primary, old Ntronang R/C Primary and Nkwantanang R/C Primary and that Tender for those projects were being opened at the Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Council in Koforidua.

He said that the assembly was collaborating with the Police administration for the rehabilitation of the Kade District Police Headquarters and building of additional offices.

Mr Duah said the project would cost GHC 78,790.09, which the Assembly was expected to contribute 50 percent.

He said that the District Magistrate Court at Kade had been given a facelift.
