Kusihene destooled for his involvement in murder case

Akyem Kusi (E/R) May 24, GNA - Nana Akesse Appiah III, Kusihene, has been declared destooled after reports that he had been arrested in Accra for allegedly being the brain behind the murder of his predecessor, Nana Nketia Tenadu III 10 months ago. The youth of Akyem Kusi held a massive demonstration in the town during which they expressed their support for the arrest of Nana Appiah and demanded his destoolment.

The youth, who earlier slaughtered a sheep in front of the palace to declare Nana Appiah's destoolment, later realized that they needed the support of the Kingmakers especially, Nana Kwadwo Afoakwa, Abusuapanyin; Nana Ofosua Owurae, Queen Mother and Nana Kwesi Yeboah, Krontihene, among others.

The youth went to the Krontihene and the Queen Mother and forced them to accompany them to the house of the Abusuapanyin, who sensing danger, gave in to the demand of the youth saying: "If the Oman so desire so be it."

In the presence of the Krontihene, Queen Mother and the Agonahene, Nana Opoku Asante, libation was poured and a second sheep was slaughtered in front of the palace to signify the Kusihene's destoolment for bringing shame and disgrace to the Stool, Chiefs, Elders and People of Kusi.

The whole process was peaceful with people going about their normal duties without the presence of Policemen, unlike a previous demonstration when peace officers were mobilized from Akim Oda, Akwatia, Kade and Takrowase to maintain law and order. Nana Tenadu, who was Chief of Kusi for many years, was found dead in the Birim River 10 months ago and was initially alleged to have drowned.

However, Police investigations led to the arrest of Nana Appiah and others for alleged complicities in the murder of Nana Tenadu.
