The Kumasi Wesley Girls Senior High School has been forced to reduce its boarding intake for the 2025 academic year after a heavy rainstorm ripped off the roof of a girls' dormitory block.

The block, which has the capacity to accommodate over 500 students, was destroyed by the storm over a year ago, making it difficult for the school to take in students.

Checks by OTEC News Desk indicate that while the school has the capacity to take the students, they have been forced to rather take them and make them day students because the very house that will accommodate the students has no roof.

A source at the school revealed that authorities have been informed about the situation but have yet to respond to the problem.

"Former Kumasi Mayor Sam Pyne was here during the havoc with a pledge to fix the problem, but here we are three years on with no solution," the source said.

A visit to the school by OTEC News Reporters, Solomon Nimo and Asare Diana, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, indicates that the dormitory block's condition has worsened due to its exposure to heavy rains.

According to a source at the school, fixing the block has been crucial as it will help accommodate more boarding students.

They are appealing to authorities to help fix the problem to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
