Kumasi South Hospital takes delivery of beds

Kumasi, Jan. 13, GNA - The Kumasi South Hospital, designated as the Ashanti Regional Hospital, has taken delivery of 20 new beds and mattresses to augment its present bed capacity.

The arrival of the items was in response to attempts at making the Hospital a centre of excellence for maternal health care delivery in Ashanti.

Dr Frank Abebrese, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, who received the items, said the arrival of the items was timely, as it would save the problem of shortage of beds in view of the daily increase in the admission of patients.

He said a maternity block complex, which was nearing completion would soon be put into use to help increase child delivery and quality child care adding that the hospital delivered 1,200 babies in 2003 and that the number was likely to increase.

Dr Abebrese said the Hospital was doing everything possible to decongest the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and called for support not only from the government but also from all stakeholders to enable the Hospital to achieve this goal.
