Kukuom (B/A), Oct. 23, GNA - The Asunafo South District Chief

Executive (DCE), Mr Fleance Danso, has reiterated his commitment to enhance security in the District.

He said the assembly had received numerous reports of rampant armed robbery cases and violent crimes in the District in recent times. The DCE who was addressing members of the District Security Council (DISEC) at Kukuom in the Brong-Ahafo Region, said criminal activities hampered the development of the District, adding that measures were being taken to address the situation.

Mr Danso said as a first step to ensure safety in the area, the Assembly had strengthened the security agencies and had also contracted officials of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) to ensure absolute control of the security network in the area. The DCE who is the Chairman of DISEC, said he would work assiduously to eradicate the looming security threat in the area. Mr Danso gave the assurance that he would work together with the people to promote development.

Touching on the unemployment situation in the area, he said the agricultural sector would be made attractive for the youth to take to farming.

Mr Danso said the community based rural development organisation was assisting the District to construct schools and other social amenities.

He stressed the need for the Assembly to generate more revenue internally to supplement the District Assembly Common Fund for development. Mr Danso urged the revenue and budget departments of the assembly to institute measures to step-up revenue mobilization in order to raise adequate funds to supplement the already over-burdened Common Fund. 23 Oct 10
