Kpandai pupils learn on floor

Pupils of Kpandai D/A Primary School are appealing to the authorities, including government, to provide them with desks and tables to boost their academic performance.

The school has no desks for pupils, making it difficult for them to undertake their lessons.

Owing to the development, some pupils are currently suffering from spinal complications, respiratory conditions and headaches due to the dust they inhale daily on the bare floor.

Some parents have withdrawn their children from the school to help them on their farms as a result of the situation.

A visit to the school by DAILY GUIDE revealed that all academic activities are all done by pupils on the bare floor.

Some of the pupils, who spoke to the paper, said they mostly suffer sharp back and neck pains due to their posture during class hours.

Felicia Pormaa, a teacher in the school, said “the condition at the school is not only worrying but dangerous to the health of the children.”

According to her, absenteeism is on the rise in the school because most of the pupils fall sick due to the dust they inhale on the bare floor.

She therefore appealed to government, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and institutions to come to the aid of the school to enhance teaching and learning in the area.

The school also lacks Information Communications Technology (ICT) laboratory and other learning materials for effective learning.
