Knutsford University trains journalists

Knutsford University College, Ghana has graduated 34 journalists across the country with advanced certificate in communication and governance in Accra.

The journalists went through 12- week intensive training in communication, governance, leadership, sociology among other topics to equip them to enhance their communication prowess.

The University has instituted scholarship scheme and grant programmes for students who are brilliant but deprived.

Mr Kwabena Essel, Pro-Chancellor of the University said the gesture is part of the College’s Corporate Social Responsibility in contributing towards individual and societal development in the country.

He said journalists play a key role in the development of peace and democracy and there is the need to broaden their knowledge base through effective training to make them become better leaders and good communicators.

The Pro-Chancellor said so far the University has trained about 105 journalists since it started the programme three years ago.

He urged the graduates to make good use of the course and bring about progressive change in its reportage.

He said the University would soon offer degree programmes in Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Mass Communication, Bachelor of Laws, BA in Economics, BA in Religious Studies, Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Engineering, BSc in Nursing, Bachelor of Pharmacy, and BSc in Architecture and Environmental Design.

The rest include BSc in Physical Assistant, MBA, Master of Science (MSc) in Accounting and Finance, MSc in Accounting and Taxation, MSc in Logistic and Supply Chain Management and MSc in Public Administration with Law.

He said in line with its strategic plan, the College is working towards meeting the minimum requirement for a charter and has revised its academic structures to meet the requirements of the National Accreditation Board.

Mr Essel said the College would be made up of Knutsford Business School, Knutsford School of Science and Technology, Knutsford School of Humanities, Knutsford School of Education and Knutsford School of Graduate Studies.
