Kasoa traders union praise government for new district

Kasoa, C/R, Nov 7, GNA - The members of the Power House Traders Union (PHTU) at Kasoa in the Central Region have praised President John Ayekum Kufuor and the government for the creation of a new District with its capital at Awutu Bereku.

Alhaji Yusef Mohammed, Chairman of the Union, said this at a meeting to discuss matters affecting the welfare of the members of the union at Kasoa at the weekend.

He said the Power House Traders Union, a pressure group, was happy the government had created the new District, adding that, Kasoa the fastest growing urban town in the country would get its fair share of the national cake.

Alhaji Mohammed commended the MP for Awutu Senya, Mr Oppey Abbey and the Chiefs for their roles in the creation of the district and urged the people not to be perturbed about challenges that came their way. He said before the creation, Kasoa already enjoyed potable water, telephone, health and other facilities and expressed the hope that they would be improved.

The Chairman disclosed that the Union was constructing an area office for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the cost of 200 million cedis with modern office equipment, adding that the project would be completed before the ending of December this year. The Chairman said it would comprise of a conference room, offices for the Chairman, Secretary and other executives to ensure the effective organization of the party in the area.

He appealed to the government to expedite action on the processing of application forms for Medium and small-scale loans to enable members to expand their businesses.

Mr Joseph Dadzie, Secretary of the Union urged delegates to the forthcoming congress to vote for a marketable Presidential candidate to lead the party to victory in the 2008 elections. NSOC 04 Social Death Omanhene Omanhene of Agona Nsaba Traditional Area dead

Agona Nsaba, (C/R), Nov 7, GNA - The Paramount Chief of the Agona Nsaba Traditional Area, Nana Okeseku Afari Mintah II, is dead. The Abusuapanyin of the Dwomona Clan and Chairman of the Funeral Committee Dr Yeboa Duodu, announced this at the celebration of the Akwasidea festival on Sunday at Nsaba in the Agona District of the Central Region. According to Dr Yeboa Duodu, the late Omanhene died on April 1, 2007 at Nsaba after a short illness. He said the Traditional Council had decided to perform the final funeral rites on March 27, 2008, adding that various committees had been formed for the funeral. Dr Yeboa Duodu said the Traditional Council would inform President John Agyekum Kufuor at the Castle Osu soon. 07 Nov 07
