Kasoa inaugurates guards to improve revenue

Kasoa (C/R), Sept. 23, GNA - The Awutu-Senya District Assembly has inaugurated 39-member urban guards at Kasoa to help in revenue collection and also render other services to the assembly towards the development of the district.

The guards made up of 34 men and five women are headed by Mr Amoasi Awusi, a retired police officer.

The District Chief Executive for Awutu-Senya, Mr Nuhu Adams, said internally generated revenue was not encouraging and expressed the hope that the guards would do their best to help improve the situation. He urged them to educate the people on the need to honour their tax obligation to enable the assembly to get enough funds to finance more development projects.

Mr Adams said some land developers were putting up buildings without permit or payment of fees to the assembly and appealed to the people to cooperate with the guards for the assembly to collect more funds to improve its financial position.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Jordan Quaye, Awutu-Senya District Police Commander, commended the guards for exhibiting maturity during their training.

He said the formation of the guards had come at the right time to support the police in the area to fight crime and told them not to engage in negative behaviour because whoever would be caught would be dealt with.
