Kasena-Nankana West DCE inspects ongoing projects

Mr. Gerard Ataogye, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kasena-Nankana West in the Upper East region has embarked on an inspection tour of a number of developmental projects in his district.

The inspection was to abreast himself with the progress of work at the various projects sites and to also interact and learn at first hand challenges the contractors are facing.

The DCE was in the company of the District Engineer, Aneateba Bertinus Akonsa, the Chiana-Paga constituency New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate, Robert Aloo, the Assembly’s presiding member, Eric Akurugu, party members and some workers of the District Assembly.

Mr. Ataogye first visited Katiu- Saa in the west of the district where he inspected the construction of a modern CHPS compound and accommodation to enhance healthcare delivery in the community. He stated that when completed, the new facility will replace the dilapidated structure used to receive and treat the sick.

Still in the west, Mr. Ataogye paid a visit to the construction site of the Shea nut processing factory at Chiana-Asunia being built under government’s one district, one factory program.

He explained that the completion of the factory will add a lot to the improvement of lives of the people as it would create jobs for them directly and become a major market for the raw Shea which abounds in the area.

Inspection of Projects in the East

The DCE moved his working visit to the East of the district. There, he first inspected work on a six-unit classroom block, a four-seater KVIP and two-unit urinal, being constructed for the Mirigu Junior High School.

He also visited a borehole facility constructed by Ghana’s First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo Addo and inspected a mechanized borehole water system sank for the Mirigu Senior High School. He then proceeded to the Mirigu-Kansaa community where he inspected work on a six-unit classroom block, six- seater water closet toilet facility and held a brief engagement to interact with community members.

The DCE used the opportunity to reiterate the commitment of the NPP government to execute projects that will be beneficial to the people. He said President Akufo Addo was concerned about the state of schools, especially in the rural areas and is working assiduously to make sure no child sits in a dilapidated structure to study.

He told the people to remember the good works of the NPP government when the time comes and give it the nod for more life-changing projects and policies.

The DCE applauded and commended elders and people of community for their communal support for all government projects and urged them to continue to work closely with the contractor to enable him complete the project and deliver on schedule.

At Sirigu, the DCE visited the Sirigu Senior High School to assess the extent of work on an emergency three-unit classroom block under construction to eliminate the double track system.

He said government has taken note of the challenge with congestion at the school under the double track system and is tirelessly working to alleviate it as soon as possible to enable smooth and uninterrupted academic work.

Mr. Ataogye’s next visit was to the Paga –Sirigu road where he inspected work on spot improvement and construction of three culverts for the 27 km road. He interacted with the contractor and charged him to finish the job within time to save users from the rain floods which have troubled the area in the past.

Inspection visit continues, ends in Paga

The DCE and his entourage concluded their working visit in Paga with the inspection of work on a six-unit classroom block for the Paga R/C Primary School and three-unit classroom block at roofing stage, with additional office for staff and a store room for the St. Theresa Junior High School in Paga-Zenga.

They later visited and inspected the progress of work on a new block complex for the Kasena-Nankana District Assembly, where work is about 80% complete.

Briefing the media after the tour, the DCE said he was impressed with the level of work at the various sites visited. He said though there were some few structural challenges observed at some of the sites, which the engineer has taken note of for immediate redress, he was optimistic the vision of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to deliver in all sectors to ameliorate situations in the area of health, education, unemployment and roads, would be possible.

He urged Ghanaians to keep faith with the NPP government and give it four more years to do wonders.

Ghanaians should have hope in us because, what they need, the NPP government through our able and dynamic leader, His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, will give it to them.
