Former Energy Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah and his Deputy K. T Hammond are appearing before the Judgment Debt Sole Commissioner today over the sale of a drillship in 2001.

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation’s vessel, Discoverer 511, was sold for US$24 Million but the paper trail of the transaction has still not been traced.

US$19.5m of the proceeds were used to pay a judgment debt allegedly awarded French Bank Societe Generale against the GNPC.

US$1Million was allegedly used to pay for legal services covering the transaction.

However, the remaining US$3.5m cannot be traced.

None of those involved in the transaction has been able to account for the rest of the money, necessitating the invitation of the two former Ministers as well as former GNPC Chief Executive, Tsatsu Tsikata, to testify over the matter.
