KMA boss inspects some projects in Kumasi

Kumasi, Oct. 21, GNA - Mad Patricia Appiagyei, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, on Tuesday inspected some projects in the metropolis to acquaint herself with the progress of work on them. She was accompanied by Mr Mathew Addai, Co-ordinating Director of the Assembly, Mr Ismaila Amadu, the Acting Engineer and other officials of the assembly.

The projects include construction of the Sokoban Village Project which is being financed by Agence Francais Development, Asafo Market Redevelopment Project, the Youth Centre at Ahensan Estate and some unauthorized structures at both Kejetia and Asafo markets. The Sokoban Village Project made up sheds, administration block and other facilities is meant to accommodate wood workers at Anloga Junction in Kumasi who are expected to re-locate to the site soon as a result of the construction of the Oforikrom by-pass that has already taken off. On the Asafo Market Redevelopment Project, Mad Appiagyei said when completed it would accommodate displaced traders and the Youth Centre would also help to develop the skills of the youth in the metropolis. Mad Appiagyei expressed satisfaction at the progress of work on these projects which are being executed by Chinese and local contractors and said 90 per cent of the work had so been completed. She expressed concern about building of unauthorized structures at Kejetia and Asafo lorry parks by the Ghana Private Road and Transport Union as well as other private developers and directed that such structures should be demolished to ease congestion at the parks.
