In a desperate bid to curb the escalating wave of armed robbery incidents plaguing the municipality, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Juaben, Eunice Ohenewaa Ansu, along with the Juaben Traditional Council and Assembly Members, has made an urgent appeal to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and President John Dramani Mahama.

They are requesting a re-demarcation of police jurisdiction, shifting the Nobewam-Bomfa to Achiase stretch from the Konongo to the Juaben Command.

The MCE explained that this strategic re-demarcation is crucial for effectively combating the rampant armed robbery that has instilled fear in residents, particularly commuters and market women who frequent the route. Currently, this critical stretch falls under the Konongo Police Jurisdiction.

This arrangement means that all crime incidents occurring within these communities are reported to Konongo police without the knowledge of the Juaben Municipality, despite the areas being geographically part of Juaben.

Ansu highlighted a significant operational challenge in which the Juaben Police Command is legally prohibited from patrolling these areas.

"I always have to rely on the Konongo police for situational and crime incidents from these communities, which makes my job tough," she stated, indicating the difficulties in providing timely and effective security.

The passionate appeal was made during a working visit to victims of a recent armed robbery attack in Adumasa. The MCE provided an undisclosed amount to assist with their hospital bills.

She revealed that the Adumasa incident, which occurred on the evening of Monday, October 20, 2025, is not an isolated case. Similar attacks have taken place in other communities within the Juaben Municipality, leaving residents in a state of perpetual fear.

The Assembly Member for the Achiase Electoral Area, Vivian Kwaning, corroborated the MCE's concerns, detailing specific tragic incidents. She reported a robbery attack at Achiase on Wednesday, May 26, 2025, which resulted in the death of a 61-year-old watchman, Kennedy Boakye.

Another farmer, Kwaku Obeng, met an untimely demise in a similar armed robbery attack on August 5, 2025.

These incidents underscore the urgent need for improved policing and a more cohesive jurisdictional structure.
