The Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro Constituency in the Western region, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has commissioned an artificial football pitch (astro turf) at Elubo in her Constituency.
Dorcas Affo-Toffey built this astro turf to nurture football talents in her Constituency. The project started somewhere in 2023.
Speaking to Daniel Kaku after the official handing-over ceremony at Elubo, Dorcas Affo-Toffey who is also the Deputy Transport Minister, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the management of Ghana National Gas Company for helping her to complete the project.
"Special appreciation goes to Ghana Gas Company Limited, and to Wembley Sports Construction Ltd. for delivering", she acknowledged.
She also thanked the good people of Elubo for rallying behind her to complete the project.
"Our gratitude also extends to the Elubo Traditional Council and the good people of Jomoro for their unwavering support throughout this journey", she added.
She described the project as a historic by stating, "History has been made in Jomoro! The long-awaited AstroTurf, the very first of its kind in our constituency, has finally been commissioned and opened to the public".
She added that, "This dream began while the NDC was in opposition, yet, through unity, we have seen it to completion despite the doubts and distractions".
She believed that the facility would project Black Stars project in future.
"This is more than a pitch, it’s a stage for greatness. From Jomoro, we will nurture talents that will rise to represent Ghana and possibly wear the Black Stars jersey on the world stage. Who knows? The next star to help Ghana qualify for the World Cup may come from this very ground!", she emphasised.
She urged the community to make good use of the facility by keeping it in good shape always.
