Japanese NGO constructs 16-classroom block for Nkoranza

A Japanese Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Monphy and Youth Foundation, is putting up a 16-classroom storey building at Nkoranza, to start an International Private School within the township.

The project, estimated at about GH?480,000.00 and started this year, is at the roofing level.

Mr. Charles Effah-Gyan, the Ghanaian Director of the NGO, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza that the school would have boarding and day facilities.

Mr. Effah-Gyan added that the organisation was under the auspices of Mr. Prince Kofi Monphy, a citizen of Nkoranza, who has stayed in Japan for more than 20 years.

The Ghanaian Director of the NGO further disclosed that the organization has also constructed boreholes for communities in the Nkoranza Municipality where portable water system is difficult to come by.

Mr. Effah-Gyan who also doubles as the Assemblyman for Nkoranza Estate Electoral Area, mentioned the beneficiary communities as Nyamebekyere, Nkyinkanamu, Nkwaease and Nkoranza New Town, and said the total cost of the boreholes stood at over GH?40,000.00

He said Monphy and Youth Foundation had already donated an ambulance each to the Nkoranza Health Centre and the Sunyani Regional Hospital, to ensure the provision of quality health delivery services to people in their communities.

Mr. Effah-Gyan called on the borehole beneficiary communities to handle the items properly, to prolong their lifespan.

Mr. Monphy. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NGO, said a monitoring team and a delegation from Japan had been visiting Nkoranza since the past five years, to find out how the different projects were impacting on the lives of the people in the beneficiary communities.

He further said the organisation recently donated some second-hand clothing to some needy people at Ahyiayem, Bredi Number One, Breme, Nyamebekyere, Aboasu, Baanofour, Kyirefene and Nkyinkamamu.
