Jama-Tinponim to mechanise its bore-hole

Krobo (B/A), June 9, GNA- An amount of GH¢ 1,382,100 has been earmarked for the mechanization of a bore-hole at Jama-Tinponim in the Techiman Municipality. The project, financed by the World Bank, under the Community-Based Rural Development Fund, is supported by the government and the beneficiary community. Mr Seidu Assah Baffour, Chairman of the Krobo Zonal council, disclosed this at the first ordinary meeting of the second session of the council at Krobo.

He explained that under the project, beneficiary communities and the government would contribute five percent each and that so far GH¢ 500 had been realized towards the project at Jama-Tinponim. Touching on the revenue of the council, Mr Baffour described the performance of the Zonal council as poor and entreated counsellors to educate the people on the importance of paying their taxes. He warned residents to keep their domestic animals in pens, as the council would soon enforce its rules and bye-laws on stray animals. Mr Justice Asare Munufie, Secretary of the council, urged the counsellors to regularly interact with the Secretariat to enable them to become abreast with issues, especially on the financial position of the council. He urged the communities to assist the council to achieve its medium term development goals.
