JEKFED supports 52 brilliant and needy children

Bobikuma, (C/R), Jan 10, GNA- About fifty-two students of the Agona District Assembly Junior Secondary School (JSS) have been offered a year's scholarship by an NGO, John Eduful Kobina Foundation for Educational Development (JEKFED).

JEKFED has been established to promote education among school going children who do not have the means to do so. The scholarship, which is renewable depending on the performance of the children, would be continued till such wards completed their JSS education.

Mr John Eduful Kobina, president of JEKFED said the educational assistance is to help brilliant but needy children remain in school irrespective of their parents' ability to support them. "We are not giving full scholarship straight away till wards completed school, because we want to make the scheme competitive and also as a means of encouraging the children to work harder," he said. Mr Eduful said educating a child is the key to the country's future success adding, " Leave no child behind for they are the future leaders of this country."

The chief of Lower Agona Bobikuma, Nana Addae Yeaboah who received the NGO thanked them for their support and urged other citizens and organisations from Agona Bobikuma to emulate JEKFED. JEKFED has been supporting communities and organisations such as the Ghana National Taekwando Association and other organised groups in and around Agona Bobikuma.

The Assemblyman for the area, Mr Kojo Asiedu Tandoh thanked the NGO and advised the children to make good use of their scholarship to enable them to benefit more in the coming years.
