Induction of King Latse II put on hold

The Judicial Committee of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs (GARHC) in Dodowa has suspended the official induction of Mr. George Tackie as the new substantive Ga Mantse under the stool name King Tackie Adama Latse II in succession of Boni Nii Amugi II who died in 2004 after resigning having ruled for 39 years.

That decision by the committee was stated in a letter which Today stumbled upon in the wake of the confusion which erupted over the next successor.

The said judicial committee was chaired by the Paramount Chief of Kpone Traditional Area, Nii Tetteh Otu II.

Other members included Tema Mantse, Nii Adjei Kraku II and Paramount Chief of Ada Traditional Area, Nene Abram K. Akuaku III.

The one-page letter dated Friday, February 24, 2015 which was signed by the registrar of the GARHC, Mr. H.A.K Attipoe, was copied to the Dzasetse, Nii Yaote Otu-Ga II, King Tackie Adama Latse II, the Acting President of Ga Traditional Council and the registrar of Ga Traditional Council.

The letter reads: "As a result of the discussion I had with you in my office previously, I have been directed to refer you to the above caption and to state that; since the newly installed Chief's C.D. Forms are being processed, the induction/introduction to the Ga Traditional Council should be stopped until his name is entered into the National Register of Chiefs.”

It continued: "That King Adama Latse II, should be patience until the process is completed. That King Adama Latse II, should in the interest of peace stay away from the palace and the Ga Traditional Council”.

The letter further stated that:"Nii Yaote Oto-Ga Il has no capacity as Ga Dsasetse, to process the C.D. forms of a purported candidate ( Nii Adama Latse II ) as Ga Mantse.”

It went on that:"Nii Adama Latse II was purportedly installed as Ga Mantse, on the 11th June, 2011 before the final ruling in the application for review of the 1st April, 2014 ruling filed on the 14th April, 2014 and issued out the 2/2/2015.”

According to the letter, the above acts were contemptuous in accordance with section 33 sub-section 8 of the Act 759 of 2008 and they have to be cited for contempt in the High Court by the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs.

It pointed out that, Abola Piam Royal Ruling House was the present royal ruling house to validly nominate candidates from its royal ruling house and lineage for selection and installation by the Ga Paramount Stool Dsase, Tunma We, Abola-Accra.

The letter concluded that in the contempt application before an Accra High Court, Nii Adama Latse II and his cohorts denied having enstooled Nii Adama Latse as Ga Mantse.
