Indomie to support spelling Bee for 5 years

Multi-Pro Private ltd, the local brand representatives of Indomie Noodles, will continue to be the title sponsor of the Scripps Spelling Bee competition for the next five years, the Brands Manager, Shine Akiem Torsoo has announced.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the finals of the 2015 edition of the competition, Mr Torsoo said the spelling competition is very important in the education of the Ghanaian child and hence the company’s decision to continue to support it.

“We have been a strong supporter of this initiative taken by Young Educators Foundation to better the lives of children through literacy programmes, and we are pleased to continue our commitment as title sponsor to this worthy initiative”.

The 2015 edition of the competition was won by twelve year old Vishal Thakwani of Delhi Public School International, Tema. He beat 81 other spellers from around the country to emerge winner and will represent Ghana at the 88th Scripps Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., USA.

The Second and third runners-up, were Kobena Asamoah and Lord Mba.

Mr Torsoo said Indomie brand believes in promoting quality education and empowering the young ones through education in Ghana.

“Indomie, a brand of choice by most, if not all people in Ghana, has a belief in excellence. It is no wonder we associate ourselves with The Spelling Bee since we both share the same values,” he added.

Indomie has been the title sponsor of the spelling competition for six years out of the eight years that the competition is taking place in Ghana.

Mr Torsoo noted that the spelling programme has expanded, improved and reached more children throughout all the regions in Ghana and urged the organisers, Young Educators not to relent in their efforts to sustain it.

Indomie continues to be the market leader in instant noodles in Ghana and continues to map out strategies to maintain the enviable position.

Mr Torsoo said the company would continue to expand its reach to make the product available to consumers throughout the country.

He announced that a new bigger size, called the family pack noodles, has also been launched for the convenience of the family, and added that, the company will continue to innovate to meet and even exceed the expectation of the consumer.

Mr Torsoo said the company will continue to use modules that will ensure that Indomie generates lots of jobs and wealth creation opportunities for its wholesale and retail clientele.
