Indiscipline is eroding effort to build better Ghana - Ampofo

Osino, March 30, GNA - Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the Eastern Regional Minster on Monday said indiscipline was eating into the moral fabric of society thus giving a wrong signal towards efforts to build a better Ghana.

He mentioned student's involvement in drug addiction, hooliganism, occultism, bribery and the improper way of dressing that had engulfed the educational institutions as a threat in producing credible adults for the economic development of the country. Speaking at the 30th anniversary of the Osino Presbyterian Senior High School at Osino on Saturday, the Regional Minister cited lack of parental control as a contributing factor to the breakdown of societal norms amongst the youth.

He said shirking of parental responsibilities had to a large extent contributed to why the youth these days lacked respect for the aged and called on all to help to address the problem. Mr Ampofo commended the founding fathers and teachers of the school and promised the government's attention in raising the status of the school.

The headmaster, Nana Frimpong Sekyi said despite all the challenges facing the school, it was able to brave the odds and continue to produce high calibre of students who today contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of the country. He appealed to the Regional Minster to assist the school to build a science laboratory, dining hall and a classroom block.
