Improve Ahafo-Ano roads - Omanhene

The Omanhene of Tepa, Nana Adusei Atwenewa Ampem, has appealed to government to act quickly in tackling the bad roads in the Ahafo-Ano North District.

He said roads totaling about 267 kilometres in the area were in a terrible state of deterioration, and that, it was becoming increasingly difficult for the predominantly farming population to transport agricultural produce to marketing centres.

This could only worsen post-harvest losses, with devastating consequences on the livelihood of the people, he said.

Making the call through the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Tepa, the Omanhene said middle men who travelled on the rough roads to reach the farm gates were cashing in and cheating the farmers.

The situation was a major disincentive to agricultural production and should not be allowed to persist, he said.

Nana Ampem urged government to release funds for the completion of the Tepa Jubilee Market, and renewed his appeal for the establishment of a College of Education in the district
