ISACCA Donates US $5,000.00 to support Street Library Ghana

The Accra Chapter of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACCA) has presented a cheque of US $5,000.00 to assist the Street Library Ghana's Project (SLG) to realize the fulfillment of their dreams of unlocking the power of literacy in under privileged children in Ghana.

The donation is intended to assist the Street Library Ghana (SLG) in procuring a Kiosk structure which will serve as a digital hub and other devices that comes with it which when completed will help children around Pokuase and its environ get access to the internet to read books online using tablets with ease under the Street Library Ghana Project.

According to the President of ISACCA Accra Chapter, Mr. Kobina Nkum Akwa, the gesture was as a result of ISACA's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in reaching-out to Non-Governmental Organizations whose efforts has put a smile on the faces of the underprivileged children in the society but unfortunately lacks financial support to continue their good work.

"An example of one of such NGOs whose efforts needs to be rewarded with financial assistance among others is the Street Library Ghana", he said.

In addition to the donation, ISACCA Accra Chapter also believes in the visions of SLG and equally express interest in partnering with them towards realization their set objectives in the near future.

Street Library Ghana (SLG) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to unlocking the power of literacy in under privileged children in Ghana and has been in Ghana since the year 2012 reaching out to over 10,000 children within six Regions and 22 communities with support from Tigo Ghana, Reach for Change, Microsoft, Global Fund for Children and Faunhofer


The Founder and President of Street Library Ghana (SLG), Hayford Siaw, who received the cheque on behalf of Street Library Ghana thanked ISACCA for its kind gesture and pledged his outfit will use it to achieve the purpose for which it has been granted.

In a short interview with the media just after the presentation, President Hayford Siaw noted the support given his outfit will yield good results in about five to ten years to come.

"With this support, we expect that in the next five to ten years to come, when you come in here, you'll see that what ISACCA has planted, cultivated and grown has become very successful", he stated.

He said his outfit is looking up to partnering with corporate institutions and professional associations to be able to work together for the betterment of underprivileged children in the society.

SLG responds to the literacy needs of vulnerable children through mobile libraries, provision of literacy resources, mentorship, counseling, and leadership programs. The organization provides a child-friendly environment, supported by trained literacy professionals, where the children can read, explore, and play, and where families as well as communities are educated on the essence of education and the role of a library.

ISAACA Accra Chapter is a nonprofit, independent association that advocates for professionals involved in information security, assurance, risk management and IT Governance and has its headquarters located in the United States of America with a network of more than 200 ISACCA Chapters established in over 180 countries. The chapters also provide education, resource sharing, advocacy, networking and other benefits.
