The acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), John Kudalor, is in Cape Coast following recent clashes in the Central Region capital.

The head of the Ghana Police Service visits Cape Coast two days after clashes between youth of the town and officers led to the death of a young girl.

Weapon-wielding youth stormed the Bakano Police Station last Sunday after receiving reports of the death of one Kwasi Sabado, who had been part of a group rounded up in a police operation.

Though police denied knowledge of what might have resulted in the gentleman’s death, youth of the town descended on the police station and vandalised vehicles.

One officer was injured.

The little girl was killed during an exchange of shots between the police and the youth.

A meeting was subsequently called by the Central Region Minister Thomas Aquinas Quansah at the Town Hall on Monday to resolve the issue.

Acting IGP Kudalor is said to be in the Region to ascertain the extent of damage caused.

Meanwhile, a family relation of Kwasi Sabado claims the police had a hand in his death, calling on government to thoroughly investigate the issue.
