Correspondence from Bono East Region

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has ordered the temporary closure of the Police Station and the District Police Headquarters in Kwame Danso in the Sene West District of the Bono East Region.

The temporary closure follows a violent mob attack on the District Court and the District Police Headquarters on Wednesday, 10 December 2025.

According to a police statement signed by ASP Appiah Danquah, the Acting Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Bono East Regional Police Command, the irate youth numbering about 100 allegedly besieged the Kwame Danso District Court while the court was in session, vandalising furniture, fans and other property in the process.

The statement further explained that the mob vandalised properties and also turned violent toward individuals present at the court in the chaos, the youth forcibly freed two accused persons who were standing trial, whisking them away from lawful custody.

“At about 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, while the Kwame Danso District Court was in session, an irate mob of about 100 youths besieged the court premises. They attacked persons at the court and vandalised furniture, fans and other items on sight. The youth also forcibly took away two accused persons who were standing trial and assaulted the complainant in the case”, the statement read in part.

The statement, however, assured the general public that the police are committed to pursuing all individuals involved in the attacks to face the full consequences of the law.

Meanwhile, calm has since been restored in the community following the deployment of a reinforcement team from the Atebubu Division, supported by a detachment of the Formed Police Units (FPUs).
