Hundreds throng to the C/R Police Headquarters to be enlisted

Cape Coast, April 19, GNA - More than 500 people on Tuesday defied the scorching sun to form long queues at the Central Region Police Headquarters for a body selection and screening exercise for enlistment into the Ghana Police Service.

Mr Albert Onwona-Agyeman, the Regional Police Commander, told the GNA that the selection exercise was solely for senior secondary leavers who had passes in five subjects including English and mathematics.

He said more than 100 were disqualified because they did not have the required certificates and stressed that "adulterated" birth and school certificates would not be accepted.

As at 1500 hours, 200 people had been selected and would be writing an examination on Wednesday.

Those who were disqualified looked dejected and loitered around the Police Headquarters.
