"Holy days must be observed as such" - Rev. Darko

Takoradi, Mar.1 GNA- The Reverend Dr. John Martin Darko, Catholic Bishop of Sekondi-Takoradi has emphasized the need for Christians to adhere strictly to the true spirit for which certain special days were dedicated on the Christian calendar.

He noted with concern the Godliness of these special days and occasions, which "Have now been turned into days of un-holiness by some Christians".

Rev. Darko was speaking at the launch of a book entitled "The Catholic youth and the way forward", at a ceremony in Takoradi on Saturday.

The 88-page book, written by Mr. Rufus Quansah of the Church, enumerates some of the social and spiritual problems of the Christian youth and how to overcome such problems, through prayers and hard work, instead of consulting spiritualists of doubtful Christian believes. Rev. Darko said it is unfortunate to observe that the true meaning of days such as Christmas, Easter, Valentine and other special days had been lost and called on Christians to intensify evangelism to enable the people to know God better.

He also called on Christian youth to submit themselves to their Maker, and lives worthy of emulation.
