Hohoe DCE expresses concern

about district's poor revenue mobilization

Hohoe, Nov. 27, GNA - Mr James Komla Dogbe, Hohoe District Chief Executive (DCE) has called on civil societies in the area to help educate the public on the district assembly's policies and programmes.

He made the call at the inauguration of a Civic Union at Hohoe on Wednesday.

Mr Dogbe expressed concern about the poor revenue mobilisation of the assembly and expressed the hope that with constant education, the people would cooperate with the Assembly's efforts to beef up its revenue.

He called for the deepening of the district assembly's relationship with civil societies to promote effective collaboration between them.

"With effective collaboration, there will be free flow of information from the district assembly and the government to societies," he said.

Mr Dogbe urged the Civic Union to act as a coordinating committee to direct affairs of various societies peacefully and successfully.

Mr Albert Nyarko, Result Package Manager of the Government Accountability Improves Trust (GAIT) programme, said the formation of the Civic Union was to help promote issues of interest to civil society organisations and the communities.

"Civic Unions exist to consolidate civil society oversight role in ensuring transparency, accountability and anti-corruption in the local administration process toward quality basic services to the people", he said.
