Heritage Christian College holds third matriculation

Heritage Christian College(HCC), a KNUST-affiliated university at Amasaman-Accra, has held its 3rd Matriculation ceremony.

Eighty-eight (88) new students, made up of 66 males and 22 females, were formally inducted into the university to read various programs.

By program distribution, 58 are reading Bachelor of Business Administration, 19 are pursuing Bachelor of Science in Information Technology while 11 are studying Bachelor of Theology.

By nationality, 86 are Ghanaians, 1 is Nigerian and 1 is Cameroonian. This brings the current student population of Heritage Christian College to 220.

Heritage Christian College was accredited by National Accreditation Board in 2015 and is affiliated to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

The vision of the university is “To become the flagship Christian university in Africa for the purpose of advancing the kingdom of Christ and national development.”

In this regard, the university is committed to being “…a Christ-centered community that promotes transformative education through active engagement in scholarship, creative pursuits, servant leadership and global competence.”



The Affiliates Liaison Officer of KNUST, Mrs. Juliana Serwaa Andoh, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, encouraged the new students to imbibe the skills and training HCC was providing them, adding that the standards of HCC were based on those of KNUST, the mentor institution which would grant their degrees upon graduation.

The immediate past President of the Association of Ghana Industries, who is the Chancellor of the HCC, Mr. James Asare-Adjei, speaking on the theme, “Developing Ethical Entrepreneurs for the Next Generation,” said, “It is heart-warming to realize that the core values of HCC find expression in entrepreneurship, philanthropy, ethics and global competence. These are the very values that every person needs to make meaningful contributions to our society.”

The President of Heritage Christian College, Dr. Samuel Twumasi-Ankrah noted that “The education HCC offers is very distinct in our setting because we strongly believe that as one-time Professor of Oxford and Cambridge, C.S. Lewis stated, ‘Education without values, as useful as it is, seems to rather make man a more clever[sic] devil.’ At HCC, we are determined to contribute to fighting corruption and moral decadence that are so prevalent in our society today. Here at HCC, we believe a good Christian education is what will help equip the leaders of tomorrow with the right mindset, attitudes and skills to cause a lasting transformation in the society.”

The 3rd Matriculation coincided with the launch of the Center for Entrepreneurship, Philanthropy and Ethics, a unit of HCC which grooms students to be ethical entrepreneurs.
