Heavy security presence at Makola after reports of planned arson attack

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly has beefed up security at Makola market following reports of a planned arson attack on the market.

According to the reports, the traders have been living in constant fear.

Most of them have lost properties worth millions of Cedis in previous fire outbreaks at the market.

Public Relations Officer of the AMA, Numo Blafo III, in an interview with XYZ News said there is no cause for alarm.

“It was yesterday that I was informed about this rumour so immediately I told our security coordinator and they promised to put down the necessary measures to curb any problem.

“They promised to also arrest anybody who is behind the rumour or who attempts to cause such problems”.
