Headteachers Reject pupils with no cumulative record forms

Begoro (E/R), Aug. 9, GNA- Heads of Basic Schools in the Fanteakwa District have been advised to use pupils' cumulative record as a criteria for admitting pupils from other schools.

The District Director of Education for Fanteakwa, Mr Stephen Peter-Andoh was addressing a meeting of Heads of Basic Schools at Begoro on Friday.

The meeting was convened to enable the heads review their performances for the year and adopt strategies to improve upon them. Mr Peter-Andoh observed that some children decide to swap schools in the district without cumulative record, adding that this hampers academic work.

He said the policy of GES to provide each pupil at Primary one with Pupils' Cumulative Record Form was to ensure that every child is taken through basic education.

Mr Peter-Andoh expressed concern about inability of some parents to pay their children's school fees of 12,000 cedis a year but spend lavishly every day. The Deputy District Director of Education, Mr M.E.A. Yeboah, asked the Headteachers to supervise their teachers and pupils to enhance effective teaching and learning. He warned that schools which score zero percent at BECE for two years continuously will have their teachers demoted and transferred to serve under another head.
