Half Assini Catholic School PTA appeals to GES to complete their school

Half Assini (C/R) Aug. 4 GNA - Authorities of the Half Assini Catholic Primary and Junior Secondary School have appealed to the Ghana Education Service to ensure the completion of work on the school building before next academic year.

Mr Paul Whaja, chairman of the PTA and the Reverend Father John Effeh, local manager of Catholic Schools in the Jomoro District, made the appeal after the PTA executives met with the district chief executive, Mr Victor Nyanyi Kabenlah on the delay in the renovation works.

According to them, the rehabilitation, costing GHC41,277.84, was started in 2008, and is presently 50 percent complete but the job has been abandoned since the last five months.

The project, which involves re-roofing, replacement of doors and windows and electrical installation are being financed under the GETFUND.

They said when the work started both the primary and the JSS were asked to move to a temporary place, which was not suitable for teaching and learning but with hope that the work would be completed early enough for the children to occupy them.

Mr Whaja and Father Effeh said before school vacated recently, the children had brought back their desks, tables and chairs to the uncompleted building since the two contractors engaged for the rehabilitation had left the site for some.

The DCE promised them that he would contact the GETFUND to find out what had happened to the contract.
