Hajia Mahama donates to school, religious group in Tamale

Tamale, Feb 24, GNA - Hajia Ramatu Mahama, the wife of the vice-President, on Friday presented a large quantity of exercise and reading books to the Presbyterian Junior Secondary School at Kukuo, a suburb of Tamale.

Hajia Mahama was a teacher at the school before the husband became the Vice President.

She said the gift was part of her contribution to improve education in the northern sector, in Tamale and in the Presbyterian Unit in particular.

Hajia Mahama said the situation of the schools in the north was bad and stressed the need for government and NGOs to assist them to catch up with those in the south.

Rev Esmond Nagba, Clark of the Northern Presbytery, received the books.

He appealed for infrastructure development in the school to absorb the increasing number of children in the school. Hajia Mahama also donated quantities of wax prints and Korans to Islamic Literacy women group in Tamale and advised them to be committed to Allah and also enrol their children in schools.
