Hairdressers/Beauticians pass out

Winneba (C/R), Sept. 3, GNA 96 A total of 360 hairdressers and beauticians have passed out in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya district within the past 20 years.

A good number of them are currently working with foreign companies overseas while others have established their private businesses locally. Miss Rosemond Mends, President of the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District branch of the Ghana Hairdressers and Beauticians Association (GHABA), disclosed this at the 24th passing out ceremony for 16 apprentice hairdressers and beauticians after three year training in the area. They were thought good domestic and environmental hygiene, good grooming, salon practices, good posture, correct application of hairdressing and beautification products, styling techniques, colouring among others.

Mrs Celina Aggrey, Central Regional President of GHABA, advised parents to sponsor their children to learn the profession from qualified members of the association instead of sending them to wayside and quack hairdressers and beauticians.

Mrs Aggrey called for hard work among members of the association and warned them against the use of cheap and dangerous hair and beauty materials.
