Group demands apology from Asomah Cheremeh

A group of individuals, who are believed to be royals of the Sunyani Traditional Council, have stated emphatically that until the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister-designate, Mr.Asoma Cheremeh showed remorse and apologised to the Sunyani Traditional Council, there would be no co-operation by the Traditional Council for Mr. Asoma Cheremeh in the discharge of his duties as regional Minister for the Brong Ahafo region.

In a press release issued on Monday, and copied to Suncity Radio, the group, who call themselves the sons and daughters of the Sunyani Traditional Council, expressed dismay at the arrogant posture of Mr.Asoma Cheremeh, in failing to apologise to Nananom, for derogatory remarks against the Sunyanimanhene, Nana AsorNkrawiri II, during the build up to the 2016 general election.

The release said in spite of efforts by the chief of the Techiman Traditional Area, Nana Akumfi Ameyaw IV to resolve the matter amicably, Lawyer Asoma Cheremeh appears not to be in a reconciliatory mood and continued to show disrespect to the Sunyani Stool.
The group expressed shock at the apparent hypocrisy being showcased by Mr. Asoma Cheremeh. According to them, Mr. Cheremeh’s attitude is a demonstration of political immaturity and sheer hypocrisy. They could not understand why Mr. Cheremeh found no problem with words of encouragement received by then flag bearer of the N.P.P, President Akufo-Addo, but found everything wrong with similar words of encouragement extended to then flag bearer of the N.D.C, and then President John Dramani Mahama. “It is interesting that Mr. Asoma Cheremeh found no problems with the said words of encouragement from Nana Asor Nkrawiri II to His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo but finds everything wrong with similar words of encouragement to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama,” the statement read.
“We have the power to decide whom to co-operate with and whom not to; we therefore wish to inform Mr.Cheremeh that until he apologises to Nananom and show genuine remorse for the disrespect he’s shown Nananom and the Sunyani Stool, the Sunyani Traditional council and the sons and daughters of the Sunyani Traditional Area will not co-operate with him in his reign as Regional Minister,” the statement concluded.

It would be recalled that Mr.Asomah Cheremeh criticised the Sunyanimanhene for openly throwing his weight behind the then ruling NDC government during the 2016 general election campaigns, describing the chief’s action as partisan, a claim the Traditional Council refutes, stressing that the chief showed similar support for all political parties that called on him, including NPP.
