Groom youth to make informed choices - NCCE

Akropong (E/R), Apr. 27, GNA- Mr Ernest Asare Buachie, Akwapim North District Director of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), on Sunday said even though the youth are vibrant, their future could be ruined if they are not properly guided and groomed. Mr Buachie made these comments when he paid a day's working visit to five towns and villages in the Akwapim North District of the Eastern Region on Sunday.

He would also visit Abiriw, Adukrom, Aseseeso and Mamfe. At Kobokobo, Mr Buachie admonished beneficiaries of the health aids module under the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), that their success during the training would determine the sustainability of the programme and urged them to study hard.

According to him, the health aids module alone could employ a little over 15,000 youths nationwide, adding that, records available indicated that so far, the NYEP had enrolled more than 80,000 youths nationwide, while others were on the waiting list.

The Director said agriculture, teaching assistants, health extension aids, waste and sanitation, national volunteer scheme and vacation jobs modules were presently being pursued.

He said the health aid programme was likely to assist the Ghana Health Service meet some of its human resource needs and reduce the nurse-patient ratio, adding that, the Health Sector was ready and willing to involve them in the community based rural delivery programme.
