Green Coast Group commissions Ecotourism Park in Yilo Krobo Municipal

Green Coast Group and Drink Safe Water advocacy group have planted one Dwarf coconut seedling at the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly to commission their proposed 100 acres Ecotourism Park in the municipality.

This was in line with the anticipated 500 dwarf coconut seedling planting exercise to initiate the Ecotourism Park in Yilo Krobo; Eastern Region.

The project under the discharge of the anti – water and environment pollution group, Drink Safe Water and Power Africa Multimedia brought together various staff at the assembly and Ambassadors of DSW.

At the event, Executive Coordinator for group, who doubles as Eastern Regional Head of News for www.newsafrikaonline .com Mr. Krobea Asante observed the project was intended to promote greening the environment and creating employment in the area for the people.

Mr. Krobea Asante recapped that, C.E.O of Green Coast Group and Consult, Mr. Kwaku Boateng has promised to sustain all efforts of DSW in promoting environmental protection and pollution through coconut planting.
In a statement read on behalf of Mr. Kwaku Boateng, he said, “global warming effects must be fast advanced through agricultural technology and good agricultural practices, GAP to reduce erosion, leaching and desertification.”

He mourned over the frequent drying of water bodies today due to lumbering and farming along river banks and how various waterways have been blocked for human settlement purposes.

He emphasized that, tree planting was essential for communities’ development and security since they serve as wind breaks to natural disasters such as windstorms.

Coconut is an economic tree, will provide water, food, oil, medicine, stalks for brooms, trunk for furniture, shell for making ear rings, bungles, cups, charcoal etc along its value chain.

Mr. Boateng urged individuals to go into coconut farming adding, “It’s a lucrative agribusiness venture and no one regrets going into coconut business, except they don’t apply best practices.”

He stated Green Coast Group has a 1000 acres of dwarf coconut plantation in the Western Region, precisely, Takoradi with ever-ready market both locally and internationally. He noted, “Our coconuts are making sales in Ghana, Ivory Coast and in China.”

“It is for one reason, that GCGC is partnering a group like DSW, “when our water resources are made safe, it affects the environment and the people”, he said.

In relation to the observation of the 25th anniversary of Kloyosiklpemi festival in the Yilo Krobo municipality, Green Coast Group through DSW donated a dwarf coconut seedling yesterday to the new Konor, Nene Nuer Anorbaah Sasraku II.
Mr. Krobea Asante, who delivered the seedling through spokesperson of Plau division, Mr. Michael Amanor said, the planting of the coconut tree will mark the growth of the Kingdom and fruits to bear to signify the need for all to be involved in nation building.

The Konor, expressed his gratitude for the seedling donation and pledged to ensure it is planted on the Krobo mountain to serve people who travel far to the top during festivals, “I am in fact overwhelmed by the gesture”, he stated.

Mr. Krobea Asante Tofepa, also used the opportunity to say ‘Okliboni’ to the Konor and asked that, he help in securing a 100 acre land to begin project in March 2018.

Nene Anorbaah Sasraku II, having welcomed GCGC, DSW and its ecotourism park said, it was prudent to meet all stakes after observation of Kloyosikplemi festival in November.

Planting and commissioning project at the Assembly, Mr. Saddique, director of general administration said, he was passionate for environment protection and that, much education was needed to change people’s attitude towards trees.

He encouraged that, every citizen plant and own one economic tree like coconut, as it will go a long way to provide food and basic reliefs in time of need, Mr. Saddique said.

”The dwarf coconuts planted are expected to begin to fruit in 3 years, and to produce an estimated fruits of not less than 150 at maturity, Mr. Boateng established.

Mr. Boateng mentioned a number of opportunities it offers in the country and even outside Ghana, for individuals and communities with lands above 100 acres, Green Coast Group was prepared to go into terms for community development.

He encouraged people in active service to prepare for pensions through planting of coconuts, as it was a sure way of paying them after retirement. He advised also on insurance and investments, when he explained that, people can subscribe by giving out land or capital to establish on contract where both
