Gowrie SSS in Upper East appeals for a transformer

Gowrie (UE), August 17, GNA- The Gowrie Senior Secondary/ Technical School at Vea, a suburb of Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, has appealed to the government to support it with a bigger transformer to facility academic work.

The Headmaster of the School, Mr Afregra Didacus, made the appeal in an address at the Seventh Day Adventist Church Women's Ministries Congress held in Gowrie.

He explained that the School's current small transformer could not generate enough power supply and noted that this was seriously affecting academic work.

Mr Afregra stressed that in the past, the school's academic performance was one the best in the region and for that in the country. " Many of the products of the school had gained admissions to the Universities and the other tertiary levels", he stated. He explained that majority of students had a greater potentials and could contribute to the development of the nation and cited an instance where students of the school constructed the dinning hall themselves. Mr Afregra said the school would soon start an Ostrich farm and appealed to government and other benevolent organisation to help in the project.

The school, he noted, also has a quarterly magazine produced by the students with their own articles covering events and other social issues in the region.
