Govt lauded for creating more districts to enhance good governance

Assin Manso (C/R), Dec. 2, GNA- The government was at the weekend commended for creating more districts in the country to enhance good governance.

The Omanhene of the Assin-Apimanim Traditional Area, Barima Kwame Nkyi, XII, made the commendation at a durbar to climax the celebration of the annual 'tutu' festival of the chiefs and people of the area, and to commemorate the 35th anniversary of his enthroned.

Assin-Manso is slated to be the capital of the newly created Assin South District.

The Omanhene said he and his people, "acknowledge with deepest appreciation the recognition" of Assin Manso as the district capital for historical reasons, and for its central location.

He gave the assurance that citizens of the area would live in harmony to accelerate the socio-economic development of the area.

The traditional council, he said, will, therefore, take measures to settle amicably all disputes in the area to ensure that the time and monies spent on such litigations, is dedicated to more useful purposes. An 'HIV/AIDS Day' was held on Friday as part of the celebration to help create awareness about the disease.
