Govt executing school projects in Kwahu South

Asakraka (E/R), Oct. 12, GNA - The Government is spending 25 billion cedis on the construction of 15 basic school buildings and teacher's quarters in the Kwahu South District to improve education. The projects are financed with the HIPC and Common Funds, the EU through the Quality Improvement in Primary Schools (QUIP) and the Government.

The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Raymond Osafo-Djan, said this when the Eastern Regional Minister, Dr Francis Osafo-Mensah, inspected projects as part of a three-day visit to the district. He said nine of the school buildings and teachers' quarters had been completed while the remaining would be completed by the end of the year.

The Regional Minister also inspected a 28.5 billion cedis Nkawkaw lorry park complex and town roads rehabilitation and works on the Nkawkaw-Mpraeso, Kwahu Tafo-Adawso, Abetifi-Abene and the Kwahu Tafo-Kotoso roads being funded by the government under the Urban Five project.

Commissioning a 200 million cedis three-classroom block office and store for the Presbyterian Primary School at Asakraka, Dr Osafo-Mensah said the huge investment in education is to produce qualified human resource to steer the affairs of the nation.

He therefore advised parents to enforce discipline among their children for the country's educational institutions to produce manpower to enhance development.

The Eastern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Adi Ankamah, said the huge financial assistance from foreign donors and international organisations show the confidence development partners have in the government.

He urged the people to support the government to develop the country.
