Government to rehabilitate Twifo Praso town roads

Twifo Praso (C/R), Jan. 2, GNA- The government is to spend 4.2 billion cedis in the rehabilitation of roads, culverts and drains in the Twifo Praso Township. Mr. Samuel Agyeibi-Kessie, District Chief Executive who made this known on Saturday at an end of year party for chiefs, heads of departments and stakeholders, said the government has so far invested about 40 billion cedis on development projects in the district. He said with funds from the district assembly common fund, HIPC fund, European Union, GetFund and donor support the assembly has been able to execute a number of projects including roads, clinics, schools and water facilities in the district.

Mr. Agyeibi-Kessie said the rapid development of the district would depend on unity and appealed to chiefs in the area to bury their differences and promote peace and development. He commended Mr. Abraham Odoom, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, a former DCE for the district for his significant contributions to the development of the district. He said by the year 2020, Praso would be turned into a paradise and appealed to chiefs to get actively involved in the development of the district. Mr. Agyeibi-Kessie also commended the management of the district insurance scheme for their achievement and called on those who have still not registered with the scheme to do so. Mr. Odoom thanked the people in the district for the co-operation they gave him during his term of office as a DCE and appealed to stakeholders, members of the various political parties to pool their resources to enhance the development of the areas, adding, "with commitment and dedication; one day Praso would be an ideal place to live in".

Mr. Odoom commended the media for their contribution to sustain the nation's democracy and urged them to be circumspect in their reportage. Reverend Ben Donkor Member of Parliament for the Twifo-Heman-Lower Denkyira commended the assembly for its past achievement and urged chiefs to cooperate with the assembly members to ensure peaceful co-existence and development.
