Government to implement program to promote welfare of women - DCE

Breman Asikuma (C/R), May 17, GNA- The new District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, Mrs Georgina Nkrumah Aboah has said that government will implement a number of programmes and policies to promote the well-being of women in the country.

She said as a result, the intestate succession Law (PNDC Law 111) would be fully implemented to ensure that widows and children got more share of the properties of their deceased husbands. Mrs Aboah said this when addressing a group of women and mother as part of activities to mark Mothers' Day celebration at Breman Asikuma. She said mothers as guidance of families needed to be supported by their husbands to ensure peace in the household. She said the entire welfare of households should be the responsibility of the mothers, fathers and children to ensure their smooth running for their benefit.

She that children must obey and respect their parents while parents have the natural responsibility to provide the children with clothing, shelter food and to train them to grow to become responsible in the society.

The DCE said mothers have been placed in the centre of the family to ensure the psychological, physical, social and spiritual development of their children to grow to become what God has destined. Mothers in this regard needed recommendation and appreciation for their hard work and dedication towards the development of the children, she said.

She gave the assurance that her administration would ensure the promotion of the welfare of women and appealed to the people to put aside their political sentiments and cooperate towards the development of the area.
