Government spends one billion cedis on roads in Upper Denkyira

Dunkwa-On-Offin (C/R), Oct 26, GNA - The government under the Community-Based Rural Development Programme (CBRDP) is spending over one billion cedis to undertake spot improvements of some roads in the Upper Denkyira district of the Central Region.

Mr Richard Anane Adabor, the District Chief Executive, who announced this at Dunkwa-On-Offin, named Affiefiso-Ameyaw-Nkwanta and Buabin Camp-Nyamebekyere roads as some of the roads being tackled. He said seven other projects to be carried out in seven communities were yet to be awarded on contract. They included the rehabilitation of health post at Subin and a junior secondary school at Ayanfuri. Others included the construction of three-unit classroom blocks each at Abura, Imbraim and Agyempoma.

Mr Adabor said another project on health would be located at Asma Camp, adding that two four-seat KVIP latrines would be built at Ntom and Oponso.

He announced that under the institutional strengthening and capacity building component of the CBRDP, training programme had been organised for four selected Area Councils in the district. The DCE added that all the seven Area Councils in the area had been assisted to prepare their own plans and that those plans would be incorporated into the district's four-year development plan. 26 Oct. 06
