Government assists Kwabeng to improve water Supply

Kwabeng (E/R) Feb.19 GNA - The people of Kwabeng in the Atiwa District have embarked on a 227 million- cedi water extension project, as part of efforts to ensure regular water supply in the area.

The project, when completed would benefit more than six communities in the area, including the Kwabeng Anglican Senior Secondary/Technical School. Mr. Charles Ameyaw Darkwa the assemblyman in the area, speaking to He said the project would also help curb the perrennial water problem facing the area.

Mr. Ameyaw-Darkwa said the project, which included the renovation and relocation of the main pipelines and extension of service lines to the Senior Secondary/Technical would save the students and staff of the school from dependence on the Awusu river for their livelihood.

Mr. James A. Teye, Headmaster of the school who expressed satisfaction at the progress of the project said the project would enable the school access to potable water and also improve living conditions in the school. He said work on the project is near completion, adding that it was left with connection of joints and fixing of the taps to have the system working.

Mr. Teye said the water situation in the school for years now, have been a major worry to the school authority, that the project has been a great relief to the school He mentioned the water supply problem as a major factor that led to the reduction of the school's intake over the period.
