Government Bungalows not sold out- Says T'di MCE

Sekondi, Sept. 17, GNA - Mr Kobina Pra Annan, Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive has debunked speculation that Junior and Senior staff quarters situated around the market circle area has been sold out to individuals.

"Government workers come, work and after retirement, they leave and so nobody can claim ownership of the properties in that area except the state and for that matter the assembly," he said.

Mr. Annan outlining the details of a proposed redevelopment plan for the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis, at the second meeting of the third session of the assembly, said those quarters would be demolished to pave way for the construction of storey building.

He noted that Messers Country Development Construction Limited has been contracted to examine the redesigning and improvement of access roads to the central market with the construction of overhead bridges. Mr. Annan added that the assembly would also construct a multi-storey lorry parks in some selected areas to control vehicular traffic and ensure free movement.

On premix fuel, he said that the assembly had inaugurated three landing beach committee at Nkotompo, Essipon and Ngyeresia to regulate its sale and distribution.

Alhaji Mohammed Ali, Presiding Member for the Assembly said the reconstituted Public Complaint department of the assembly had been resourced to handle issues effectively.
