Gomoa Onyaadzi accident victims buried

Mumford (C/R) Feb. 5 GNA - The fishing town of Mumford was on Friday thrown into a state of mourning when 11 victims of the Gomoa Onyaadzi motor accident victims were laid to rest.

The people lost their lives around 0545 hours on January 19, when a cargo vehicle loaded with sardines from Accra to Mankessim clashed with a bus killing 10 on the spot and three others later at the Winneba Government Hospital and Apam Catholic Hospital.

The deceased were Ebusuapanyin Kojo Ninson, Okyeame Kofi Sekyi, Opanyi= n Kobina Tsia and Madam Adjoa Kosohwe. The others were opanyin Kofi Ebum, alias Tanko, Egya Mensah, Madam Eku= a Edua, Madam Esi Ahwerebi, Opanyin Kofi Etsiwa, Kobina Tetteh and Anthony Kwame.

Right Reverend Dr Joseph Kow Ghunney, Bishop of the Winneba Diocese of the Methodist Church officiated at the non-denominational pre-burial service. He bemoaned the spate of carnage on the roads and called on drivers to ensure the safety of passengers. Rt Rev Ghunney said if due diligence had been observed by the drivers, the tragedy would have been avoided. He asked God to console the hearts of the bereaved families. The mourners clad in red and black included Mr Theophilous Aidoo-Mensah, Gomoa West District Chief Executive and Obirifo Ankobea Ahor Ahunako, Omanhene of Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area.
