Gomoa-Kyiren community electrification project gets boost

Gomoa-Kyiren (C/R), Oct. 26, GNA - Mr Sampson Kwame Mensah, an Accra-based businessman and member of the Gomoa-Kyiren Citizens Association, at the weekend presented 13 street light bulbs, electric cables and two electricity poles all valued at about 10 million cedis to the Gomoa-Kyiren community in the Central Region towards the completion of an electrification project.

The presentation formed part of a quarterly appraisal meeting organized by the chiefs and leaders of the Association to review development projects being implemented by the people with the support of the government and non-governmental organisations.

The projects including electrification and the construction of a place of convenience estimated at more than 500 million cedis have been completed and will be commissioned before the end of the year. Mr Mensah said his action was to show the citizens at home that their brothers and sisters working outside had the socio-economic well-beings of the community at heart.

Mr Mensah said sojourning citizens always remembered those at home in their prayers and appealed to the people at home to ensure unity and progress of the community and the citizens.

Nana Kwesi Bondam IV, Sahene of Gomoa Assin Traditional Area and chief of Gomoa-Kyiren, on behalf of the citizens expressed his appreciation to Mr Mensah for the gesture and expressed the hope that other well-to-do citizens resident outside would follow his example. Nana Bondam praised the communal spirit of the people and advised them to maintain it for the speedy development of the community. The Sahene also expressed his appreciation to the government for completing the electrification project initiated for the town and appealed the Ministry of Energy to speed up the arrangement for the commissioning of the project before the end of the year.

Nana Kwaku Dadzie Tufuhene of Gomoa-Kyiren said the provision of two additional electricity poles by Mr Mensah had enabled the project implementation committee to extend lines to areas, which were initially not covered by the master plan.

The Queenmother of Gomoa-Kyiren Nana Esi Twiwuah I and Nana Essuon Otsiwah II, 93Obaatan=94, advised the inhabitants to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme and other health programmes launched by the government to safeguard their health interest.
