Gomoa Kyiren Commends Government

Gomoa-Kyiren (C/R), Jan. 8, GNA - Nana Kwesi Bondam IV, Sahen of Gomoa Assin Traditional Area and Chief of Gomoa-Kyiren in the Central Region, has commended the government for assisting people of the town to execute four important development projects within the past six years. The projects include a four-classroom block, a public place of convenience, a well and electricity, estimated at about one billion cedis.

Nana Bondam also praised the Projects Planning and Implementation Committee of the town under the joint leadership of the Queenmother, Nana Esi Otwiwah, Nana Kweku Dadzie, Tufohene and Mr. J. W. Ponsu, Chairman of the local Methodist Church.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at the weekend, Nana Bondam pledged the commitment and loyalty of the Chiefs and people to national goals and aspirations.

He said the Chiefs, elders and opinion leaders had initiated a Hundred-Million-Cedi Educational Endowment Fund to assist clever but needy Junior Secondary School (JSS) students of the town to pursue higher education.

The Assemblyman for the area, Mr. Nicholas Sam, who assisted in initiating the Fund, said it would be formally launched on Saturday, January 13 this year, at Kyiren by Nana Ato Arthur, Central Regional Minister.

Mr. Kobena Issaka, Financial Secretary and Joshua Aidoo, Secretary of the Projects Planning and Implementation Committee, appealed to citizens, resident outside to attend the launching to contribute. Nana Ahor Takyi, Apomudzenhen of the Gomoa District and Deputy Central Regional Director of Health Services in charge of Clinical Care, would give a talk on health issues at the function. The launching would be preceded with a cleanup exercises on Wednesdayand Saturday, while a keep-fit and other exercises to climax the ceremony.
