Girls urged to place premium on education

Ms Agartha Osei, Nkoranza South Municipal Girls Education Officer, has urged girls to take their education serious and compete with boys at all levels of education.

She said when they achieved high levels in education, they could acquire gainful employment to improve on their livelihood.

Ms Osei made the call when addressing final year students of All Power Preparatory Junior High School (APPS), at the Municipal Education Directorate.

She expressed concern about the drop-out rate among girls at the basic level due to pregnancy and lack of parental support.

Ms Osei advised the girls to refrain from premarital sex and place high premium on their education rather than early marriage.

Mr Yaw Ntim-Korsah, Deputy Director of Education in-charge of Human Resource Management and Development, commended the proprietor of the school, Reverend Osei Kofi Caleb, for organising the visit to the directorate.

He advised the students to shun social vices that could have an adverse effect on their education and study hard to become useful citizens in future.

Rev. Caleb expressed appreciation to the directorate for the visit, saying it would enable students to acquaint themselves with their operations and encourage them to study hard to reach higher levels in education.
