Ghanaians asked to put high premium on education

Keniago (Ash), April. 9, GNA- Mrs. Elizabeth Nana Abudu, Ahafo-Ano North District Director of Education, at the week-end emphasised the importance of education, saying it was the most important tool needed to advance the nation's political and socio-economic aspirations.

He urged religious and corporate bodies, as well as the nation's development partners to invest in the sector to help equip the masses with relevant skills and expertise to enhance their lives.

Mrs Abudu said this at a durbar organized to climax the silver jubilee celebrations of the Keniago Basic School at Keniago near Tepa in the Ahafo-Ano North District of the Ashanti Region. The celebration was on the theme "Education, The Key to Livelihood and Nation Building".

The District Director of Education advised pupils and students to stay focused and always maintain a high moral standard in their endeavours to enable them to fully tap and utilize their potentials. Mrs Abudu tasked the school authorities to use the Silver Jubilee celebration to reflect on their achievements and challenges with the view to evolving vibrant programmes to further boost the growth of the school.

Mr Samuel Abu, Headmaster of the school, said the school, which started in 1983 with 13 pupils, now has 320 primary school pupils and 76 Junior High School Students.
